What is Head of Platforms and Delivery - FTTx?

The Head of Platforms and Delivery - FTTx will lead the end-to-end management of our IP infrastructure across fixed-line, Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), and Cloud services. This leadership role will involve strategic planning, operational oversight, and team leadership to ensure that the network infrastructure aligns with the company's goals for scalability, reliability, and performance. You will drive innovation in the enterprise network space and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver superior network solutions to our customers.

This role will be directly reporting to CTO Enterprise.

What does Head of Platforms and Delivery - FTTx do?

1.     Strategic Leadership & Planning:

• Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the enteprrise IP infrastructure, focusing on Enterprise Customer, FTTX, and managing our public/hybrid cloud- networks.
• Drive the vision for evolving network infrastructure and services to meet growing customer demands and technological advancements.
• Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to align infrastructure projects with the overall business goals.

2.     Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and solution architects responsible for IP, Flexible algorithm, PCE and PCEP technology, Design and Network synchronization for Enterprise solutions, FTTX and Cloud .
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence within the team.
• Provide clear direction, support, and guidance to ensure high performance and professional growth.

3.     Infrastructure Management:

• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance, scalable, and reliable enterprise infrastructure .
• Manage the lifecycle including interaction with Manage APIs for enterprise last mile solutions specially for FTTH, and cloud network infrastructure, ensuring consistent performance and no downtime.
• Establish and enforce best network automation practices for network architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Network Optimization and deployment of model-driven telemetry templates on network devices configuration and collection architecture

4.     Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders internal/external and with Tier 1 providers for infrastructure components and services.
• Negotiate contracts, SLAs, and manage vendor performance to ensure the best value and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, sales, and customer support teams to ensure network infrastructure meets business and customer requirements.

5.     Innovation & Technology Adoption:

• Stay current with emerging technologies in networking, Deploy and verify model-driven telemetry for cloud infrastructure, and recommend relevant innovations for the enterprise infrastructure.
• Lead initiatives to modernize for configure on-change subscription using gRPC the infrastructure stack along with impelentation, including SDN / SD-WAN, virtualization, automation, and cloud-native technologies.
• Drive adoption of best-in-class tools for process automation using python, interaction with  DNA center APIs and practices, ensuring that infrastructure is flexible, scalable, and future-proof.
• Network assurance using Y.1731 performance monitoring and Y.1564 (TWAMP)
• Deploy and optimize Ansible playbook and Python scripts that interact with NSO in multi-vendor environment for network automation

6.     Budgeting & Cost Management:

• Develop and manage the budget for the enterprise IP infrastructure department.
• Ensure cost-effective implementation of projects while maintaining high levels of performance and reliability.
• Monitor operational expenses, optimize resource allocation, and drive cost-efficiency in network operations.

7.     Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

• Establish and oversee a comprehensive set of KPIs and performance metrics to ensure that the infrastructure meets enterprise service level objectives (SLOs) using SSO/NSF, NSR, and GR.
• Iengage with cross functional team to mplement tools and practices to monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance across Enterprise solutions, FTTX, and cloud services using SNMP traps, deploy model-driven telemetry templates on network devices (Yang models, gRPC, gNMI, GPB)
• Design, deploy, and optimize NSO service packages (Yang models, template based, Python-based, fastmap, reactive fastmap, CLE NEDs, NETCONF NEDs, and NSO northbound integration using RESTCONF)
• Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on infrastructure performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related field. Preferred candidate must have certifications (e.g., CCIE or JNCIE and AWS (Certified Solutions Architect) is must.
• Minimum 12+ years of experience in enterprise IP networking, including FTTx, GPON, FIX, and cloud solutions.

Skills & Competencies

• Automation and scripting using EEM applets, EEM Python modules including JINJA / INCIBLE.
• Proficiency in cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and software-defined networking (SD-WAN).
• Complete understanding of BGP Prefix Independent Convergence (BGP-PIC) SSO/NSF, NSR, and GR for high availability
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and network architecture.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
• Quality of service for core, distribution, and access MPLS QoS models (pipe, short pipe, and uniform) for congestion management and scheduling
