What is DevOps Engineer?

As a DevOps Engineer at Jazz, you will play a key role in automating and optimizing the development, testing, and deployment pipelines. You will collaborate closely with development and operations teams to ensure smooth delivery processes, enhance system reliability, and scale the infrastructure to meet growing business demands.

What does DevOps Engineer do ?

Key Responsibilities

1. Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD):
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
• Automate testing, build, and deployment workflows for microservices and serverless applications.
2. Infrastructure Automation:
• Automate provisioning and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
• Manage and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for both on-premises and cloud environments.
3. Containerization and Orchestration:
• Deploy, manage, and scale applications using Docker and Kubernetes (e.g., EKS, AKS, GKE).
• Write Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts for deploying containerized workloads.
4. On-Prem / Private Cloud Management: Manage private cloud environments using technologies like VMware vSphere, OpenStack, Kubernetes (on-prem), or Red Hat OpenShift.
5. Monitoring and Incident Management:
• Set up and maintain monitoring and alerting systems with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or ELK Stack.
• Analyze system performance and proactively identify bottlenecks and failures.
6. Cloud Platforms:
• Manage resources and services in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Optimize costs and implement cloud-native solutions for scalability and reliability.
7. Collaboration and Support:
• Work with development and operations teams to align on DevOps best practices.
• Provide support for development, staging, and production environments.
8. Security and Compliance:
• Implement security best practices for access control, data encryption, and network security.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps role or a similar position.
• Cloud Expertise:
• Proficiency in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch), Azure (VMs, App Services, AKS), or GCP (Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine).
• Containerization and Orchestration:
• Advanced experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Automation and IaC:
• Expertise in Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or similar tools.
• Monitoring and Logging:
• Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK Stack, or Splunk.
• Scripting and Programming:
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
• CI/CD Tools:
• Proven experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.

• Automation: Expertise in streamlining processes and workflows.
• Continuous Integration/Deployment: Proficient in deploying scalable, reliable systems.
• Collaboration: Ability to work across teams to align goals and deliver results.
