What is Lead RAN Planning?
The Lead RAN Planning role is responsible for overseeing the Radio Access Network (RAN) planning strategy, ensuring optimal network performance, capacity and coverage to support Jazz’s business objectives. This role involves coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders and driving network expansion, optimization and technology evolution initiatives.
The position reports to the Manager RAN Planning and plays a critical role in the successful deployment and continuous enhancement of Jazz’s mobile network infrastructure.
What does Lead RAN Planning do?
- Develop and execute RAN planning strategies to ensure seamless network coverage, capacity and quality of service.
- Define spectrum strategy, including frequency planning, allocation and refarming, to
- Lead design, solution and rollout of sites, capacity expansions and technology upgrades.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Core, Transmission, Commercial, Finance and Regulatory, to align RAN planning with business objectives.
- Monitor and analyze network KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer experience.
- Align long-term network evolution roadmaps, including spectrum utilization and technology migration strategies.
- Perform traffic analysis and forecasting to proactively plan capacity expansions and network densification.
- Develop business cases for network investments, ensuring cost-effectiveness and strategic alignment.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with technical standards, SLAs, and budget requirements.
- Mentoring peers, fostering collaboration, innovation and technical excellence.
- Lead network trials, Proof of Concepts and assessments for new RAN technologies.
- Ensure timely reporting of RAN planning activities, project progress and network performance metrics to senior management.
- Represent Jazz in industry forums, technical working groups and strategic discussions related to RAN planning and development.

Requirements
What are we looking for and what does it require to be Lead RAN Planning?
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications or a related technical discipline.
- More than 10 years of experience in RAN planning, network design and optimization within the telecom industry.
- Experience in spectrum planning, layer planning, capacity offloading techniques, interference analysis and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of 2G/3G/4G/LTE/5G networks, including RF planning, capacity management and performance optimization.
- Understanding emerging technologies such as 5G, Open RAN and network virtualization.
- Proficiency in network planning tools such as Atoll, Asset, Planet or similar tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with stakeholder collaboration.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
