What is Specialist Fiber Optics?

The Fiber Optics Operations Department includes both operations area i.e. OSP & ISP. Being the back bone network of Jazz, the business implications are always highly critical and our motive is to maintain high network availability with extensive PM/CM plans, OSP network health with agile response. Moreover, addressing TTs related to FOO ISP/OSP domain within SLA timelines is the key.

What does Specialist Fiber Optics do?

• Maintain fiber network availability of the designated links and ensure full compliance to the Service Level Agreement
• Operations and maintenance (Fiber Optic Core, Metro and Access Network) of Huawei / Ericsson SDH/DWDM/OTN Equipment and Fiber Optic Cable
• Rectify remote and on-site network, equipment failure and performance degraded links
• Close monitoring and strict audit of teams for day to day CM/PM activities.
• Maintain complete network documentation for fault localization and timely resolution.
• Supervise and support area teams and address onsite network faults and teams queries.
• Liaise with subcontractors and vendors, and evaluate their performance in designated area
• Assist the regional manager to plan periodic preventive maintenance of the equipment and the fiber plant
• Oversee inventories and proper calibration of tools and test equipment assigned to the team.
• Assist the regional manager in acceptance testing and handover/takeover activity.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders for legal and security issues and escalating to the head office if issues are not resolved in the agreed time frames
• Assist in the installation, commissioning and integration of SDH/DWDM Equipment & other network peripherals
• Conduct Civil Works Inspection for Fiber Cable Protection
• Conduct planned activities
• Ensure update Network Diagrams, as-built drawings and fiber pair utilization schema
• Should be able to provide 24/7 support

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• 3 to 4 year experience of Handling O&M of fiber optic networks and systems with efficiency.
• Solid Understanding of fiber optic principles, including signal transmission and attenuation.
• Must be able to Test and troubleshoot fiber optic systems with the help of testing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Experience in Vendor management for maintaining healthy KPIs.
• Must be able to Collaborate with peer Engineers, Technicians, and stakeholders to ensure 24/7 seamless operation.
• Should be able to Document fiber optic network designs and maintenance activities.
• Must have strong problem-solving skills to understand and resolve complex network faults.
• Must possesses effective communication skills with all the stakeholders.

BS Electrical Engineer/ B.Tech honors
