Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Specialist in Transport Optical Network & IP Planning. The role is responsible for designing, optimizing, and evolving our transport and IP network infrastructure to deliver scalable, high-performance, and cost-effective connectivity solutions. The position requires deep expertise in optical transport technologies, IP/MPLS planning, and the integration of both domains to support current and future services.
Key Responsibilities
- Optical Network Planning & Design
- Plan, design, and optimize transport networks, including Optical Transport Networks (OTN), Fiber access networks (FTTS/FTTH) and IPRAN networks.
- Develop IP network topology and capacity plans for aggregation, core, and service edge (BRAS/BNG, PE routers).
- Ensure seamless integration between transport and IP layers for end-to-end service delivery.
- Hands-on experience with NMS platforms for network planning and service provisioning.
- Prepare and validate configurational scripts for L2/L3 networks (e.g., VLANs, routing, MPLS) and OTN service trails.
- Configure OTN services including path creation, protection schemes, and bandwidth allocation on NMS.
- Perform link utilization analysis and forecast capacity requirements.
- Recommend capacity upgrades and new deployments to meet traffic growth and SLAs.
- Evaluate new optical and IP technologies, vendors, and architectures for network modernization.
- Collaborate with transmission, IP, access, and data center teams for cohesive planning.
- Provide technical input in RFPs, vendor selection, and contract negotiations.
- Prepare detailed network plans, BoQs, and integration guidelines for rollout teams.
- Support troubleshooting, acceptance testing, and optimization post-deployment.
- Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, inventory, and capacity databases.
- Generate planning reports, risk assessments, and investment justifications.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Fresh or 2+ years of relevant experience in transport optical and/or IP/MPLS network planning (telecom operator or vendor environment).
- Strong understanding of:
- DWDM, OTN, ROADM, GMPLS, and optical protection schemes.
- IPRAN,IP/MPLS, Segment Routing, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, QoS, and TE principles.
- Network synchronization and clock distribution methods.
- Hands-on experience with planning tools (e.g., Fiber Planner, OptiSystem, GIS tools, IP design simulators).
- Familiarity with major vendor platforms would be a plus (Nokia, Huawei, Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
