What is Specialist Transport Operations and what does it do?

 The role reports directly to the Manager Transport Operations - MW & Optical

• Handles day-to-day network operations of Jazz MPBN Core and Service Provider network. This will include support, operations, maintenance, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, fault isolation and resolving TXN network issues
• Manages different types of network audit to rectify potential risks.
• Identifies optimization needs of the network and discusses with Planning for plan issuance and implementation.
• Maintains proper network documentation & schematics including all possible details
• Manages operations & administration of the Hardware & software of TXN network entities of any vendor platform
• Co-ordinates effectively with Vendor so that root-cause analysis (RCA Report) can be done in shortest possible time
• Ensures high availability of network to the end-users and business.
• Co-ordinates with all relevant technology vendors for any support issues to make sure that Service Level Agreements are met.
• Support in execution of plans towards network optimization.
• Co-ordination with all relevant teams to achieve network excellence.
• Complies with all the departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Method of Operations (MOPs) during the execution of tasks and carrying out all job-related duties
• Implements corrective & preventive routines of maintenance by concerned teams and/or vendors.
• Analyses the network & equipment performance and identifies engineering & optimization requirements by efficient use of NMS and other software tools.
• Ensures safety management, risk and hazard analysis and ensures safety & security in the overall network.

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Specialist Transport Operations?

Experience and Educational requirements

• Minimum 1-4 years’ experience with BSc. Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or in any other relevant field
• Soft skills and technical skills required
• Presentations and incident reporting
• Fault management
• Good skill of communications

Essential skills must have

• Sound understanding of fiber optics and optical physics and thorough know-how of network topologies and their inter-working.
• Good understanding of DWDM and photonics concepts
• Good understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols.
• Excellent grip on Microwave technologies.
• Excellent command over OTN, IPRAN, FTTx, MSTP and SDH technologies.
• Hands-on experience & deep understanding of ADMs, Multiplexers, Multi-service/Multi-protocol Switches (e.g. Huawei, Nokia etc).
• Hands-on experience of NMS systems and associated software tools, databases and architecture.
• Exposure to transmission sub systems, protocol and interface converters, etc.
• Exposure to electrical & optical cables and associated installation standards and best practices.
• Huawei, Nokia hands on with relevant equipment.
• Communication and presentations skills to make solutions/ideas understandable for respective audience segments
• Should not have any concerns working in shifts round the clock and as an emergency resource if required on holidays (including public holidays).
