What is an Expert User Research?

The Expert User Research role is responsible for conducting UX user-led research, analysis, design, and development of digital journeys across all channels. Focus is on incorporating international UX standards into products and services.

The role reports directly to the Head of Customer Experience and is a solo role. There are no people reporting to this role. Specialist role that has exposure to UX standards and has prior experience developing and rolling out UX guidelines.

What does Expert User Research?

• Understand, shape, design and develop the UX experience across our digital environments, from designing core user journeys to ensuring usability and ease of use.
• Incorporate best practices and standards of accessibility and usability into applications, channels and tools.
• Work on strategic projects, always focusing on continuously enhancing our student experience.
• Embed and oversee the implementation of user-centred research principles and processes to inform the development of new products and the continual improvement of existing products.
• Work closely with colleagues to research and analyse user needs for the design and development of all digital experiences.
• Design and run usability testing sessions including the ability to undertake, record and analyse research e.g. one-on-one interviews, group interviews /focus groups, surveys, observations, third-party research
• Successful delivery of user-led enhancements to digital products and services to specification within agreed schedule, resources, and standards.
• Reporting and presenting research methodologies and analysis to sell your solutions to various stakeholders.

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be an Expert User Research?

• Bachelor's degree in data science, data management, business management, project management, or in a related field.
• Demonstrable experience of embedding user-centred design processes and practices.
• Demonstrable experience of the application of user-centred design principles in product design and enhancement.
• An understanding of how accessibility fits with UX design principles.
• At least 5 years' experience in UX experience in a related industry.
• Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Superb analytical and reporting skills.
