What is the Head of Legal at Deodar?
The Head of Legal will lead the legal function at Deodar, ensuring that all business operations comply with applicable laws and regulations. They will provide strategic legal counsel across all aspects of the business, including tower lease agreements, vendor contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation and dispute resolution. As a key advisor to senior management, they will play a critical role in mitigating legal risks while supporting the company’s growth and operational goals. The role will be reporting to the CEO Deodar
What does Head of Legal – Deodar do?
Legal Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement the legal strategy in alignment with Deodar’s business objectives.
- Lead and manage the legal department, overseeing internal legal staff and external counsel.
- Advise the executive team and the board of directors on legal matters, corporate governance, and regulatory risks.
Regulatory Compliance & Corporate Governance
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks governing the tower and telecommunications sector in Pakistan.
- Manage corporate governance practices, including board and shareholder communications, and maintain legal records.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations, advising on their impact on company operations.
Contract Management & Negotiations
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of tower lease agreements, service contracts, and vendor agreements.
- Ensure legal soundness of contracts, protecting the company’s interests and minimizing risks.
- Develop and enforce standardized contract templates and processes to improve efficiency.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation
- Manage and resolve legal disputes, including landlord conflicts, vendor disagreements, and regulatory challenges.
- Oversee litigation strategies, working with external counsel to represent the company effectively.
- Implement proactive risk mitigation measures to reduce legal exposure.
Mergers, Acquisitions & Strategic Transactions
- Support legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and asset transfers, ensuring compliance and due diligence.
- Collaborate with external legal and financial advisors on complex transactions.
- Advise on strategic partnerships and infrastructure-sharing agreements.
Intellectual Property & Confidentiality
- Safeguard Deodar towerco's intellectual property and proprietary information.
- Oversee the implementation of confidentiality agreements and data protection policies.
Legal Department Management
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing legal team to support the business’s evolving needs.
- Manage the legal department’s budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Finance, Operations, HR) to provide legal support and training.
Requirements
What are we looking for and what does it require to be Head of Legal- Deodar?
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD), LLB, or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensed to practice law in Pakistan with good standing.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior legal leadership role (e.g., General Counsel, Head of Legal).
- Proven expertise in handling large-scale contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
- Experience in the telecommunications, infrastructure, or real estate sectors is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Pakistan’s corporate and regulatory legal framework, particularly as it applies to tower companies.
